10.1 Competitive Research - SEMrush with Crunchbase Integration
SEMrush + Crunchbase = better competitive research
SEMrush improves the Traffic Analytics tool by providing better competitive research by integrating their data set with that of Crunchbase, the global database for and about startups and the venture capital/funding community. This integration means that you have the data you need to analyze your competitors in a whole new dimension.
On Overview page of Traffic Analytics, the Crunchbase-provided data section includes the following data points:
- Company name
- Short description
- Market categories (more than 900 available)
- Address of the headquarters
- Number of employees
- Total funding amounts
- Foundation date
Data accuracy in competitive research is informed by Crunchbase’s artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.
Study the website performance of your competitors, prospects or potential partners, along with overall company progress, and make an initial appraisal at a glance. Understand their funding sources. Gain market insight by comparing several industry players in one glance. Prioritize your rivals and prospective allies according to their business – and not just online marketing success.
The Crunchbase-provided data is already available in the Traffic Analytics interface. Paid users of all categories have full access to the integrated content. Free users can check out the advantages of the feature in the three domain examples provided by SEMrush.
A little about Crunchbase (from Wikipedia):
Crunchbase is a platform for finding business information about private and public companies.
Crunchbase information includes investments and funding information, founding members and individuals in leadership positions, mergers and acquisitions, news, and industry trends. Originally built to track startups, the Crunchbase website contains information on public and private companies on a global scale.
Crunchbase sources its data in four ways: the venture program,[2] machine learning, an in-house data team, and the Crunchbase community. Members of the public can submit information to the Crunchbase database. These submissions are subject to registration, social validation, and are often reviewed by a moderator before being accepted for publication.
